Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian film industry is exercising caution and recalibrating its release strategies. In a move reflecting the prevailing national sentiment, actor-producer Aamir Khan has postponed the trailer launch of his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, which was initially scheduled for May 8.

This decision follows shortly after the makers of Bhool Chuk Maaf announced that the film would forgo a theatrical release in light of current developments.

According to a report in Midday, a source close to Aamir’s production house stated, “Considering the developments at the borders and the nationwide alert, Aamir decided to postpone the release of Sitaare Zameen Par’s trailer. His thoughts are with the Bravehearts of our Armed Forces. He feels it is important to respond with unity and restraint during this time.”

The trailer of the film was supposed to be released last month. However, the makers had decided to postpone it due to Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22. Due to the attack, the actor had also skipped attending the premiere of his film Andaz Apna Apna in Mumbai which was re-released on April 25.

Directed by RS Prasanna, the dramedy stars Aamir and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles. The film, slated for a June 20 release, is an official adaptation of the 2018 Spanish film Campeones. It follows the story of an arrogant basketball coach whose perspective on life undergoes a transformation when he is assigned to train a team of differently-abled children.

The film reportedly stars 10 newcomers – Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, NamanMishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.

Sitare Zameen Par is also a spiritual sequel to the 2007 release Taare Zameen Par which starred Aamir and Darsheel Safary in the lead roles. The movie had marked Aamir’s directorial debut.
