All auto trips will be in cash only
In a notification on the Uber app, users were told that from February 18, all auto rides will be in cash only. Uber’s spokesperson said that given the change of the industry towards the subscription-based model for the drivers, we have decided to align our approach to the same, so that there is no loss in the competition. Rapido and others such as ride–hilling apps are offering subscription-based models for auto drivers.
Big change with new auto model
Uber is making a big change with its new auto model, moving towards the SAAS (Software-e-Service) approach, the company said in a separate blogpost. What is different here. Uber will connect you with nearby drivers, but this service is independent of Uber. This further stated that no trip-level commission is taken from the drivers, and clarified that Uber only provides the platform. You have to pay the driver directly through cash or UPI (using the driver’s UPI ID). Digital payment methods such as integrated credit/debit card/UPI payment through Uber app or Uber Credit cannot be used. This ensures that your 100% payment for the trip go directly to the driver.
