The global impact of the tariffs imposed by the United States has started to show. This is evident from the recent drop in the stock markets worldwide. In the tech world, one of the major concerns is the potential increase in iPhone prices. Apple generally manufactures its iPhones in China, and with the U.S. imposing a 54 per cent tariff on China, the cost of iPhones could rise significantly.

How Much Can iPhone Prices Increase?

It’s unlikely that Apple will absorb the extra costs resulting from the tariffs. Apple’s prices have already dropped by around 9.3 per cent. With Apple selling 220 million iPhones annually, countries like India and Pakistan play a crucial role in its business. Experts suggest that if Apple passes the increased tariff costs onto customers, iPhone prices could rise by as much as 43 per cent.

Impact on Pakistan: Will iPhone Cross 10 Lakh?

In Pakistan, where iPhones are already quite expensive, the prices are expected to skyrocket. Currently, an iPhone 16 that costs USD 799 in the U.S. is priced at 224,000 Pakistani Rupees. However, after the tariff increase, the same iPhone could cost around USD 1,142, or approximately 320,000 Pakistani Rupees. The iPhone 16 Pro Max, the most expensive model in the iPhone 16 lineup, is priced at USD 1,599 in the U.S., which equals about 450,000 Pakistani Rupees. With a 43 per cent increase, this model could cost up to 650,000 Pakistani Rupees in Pakistan.

In Pakistan, iPhones are already 40 per cent more expensive than in the U.S. So, with the additional tariff burden, there’s a possibility that the price of high-end iPhones could exceed 10 lakh rupees, making them even more unaffordable for many customers.

While the situation is still uncertain, the tariff hike could lead to a significant increase in iPhone prices in Pakistan. No official announcements from Apple have been made yet, but the price hike is likely once the tariffs are fully implemented.
