As per an IMD’s weather forecast reports, Delhi-NCR and west region of Uttar Pradesh are likely to recieve light rains and thunderstorms today, December 9. Delhi will be seeing cold wave in upcoming days after the unexpected rainfall.
A few regions of Delhi-NCR experienced rain on Sunday evening, and the weather agency expects more rainfall in some areas of the city. Some areas in West Delhi, Outer North Delhi, and Gurugram received rainfall.
According to recent X (formerly Twitter) post by India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced rains to arrive in North Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh, “Light thunderstorm with lightning accomapanied with Light rain at a few places and moderate rain at one or two places of North Delhi and adjoining West Uttar Pradesh during very likely to occur during next two hours.” the X (Formerly Twitter) post read.
A Western Disturbance can be found around 70°E, north of 30°N latitude, with an induced cyclonic circulation situated over northern Rajasthan and neighboring regions. The meteorological department has stated that light rainfall is anticipated in Delhi-NCR because of these systems. The department forecasts mild to dense fog on Monday morning. On Sunday, Delhi recorded its second-lowest daytime temperature of this winter season at 23.7 degrees Celsius.
The meteorological department predicted a cold wave impacting a significant portion of Northern India beginning December 9 according to an interview by ANI with IMD scientist Naresh Kumar.
“Temperatures may rise in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi-NCR on December 8 and 9. After December 9, the temperature will decrease, and cold wave conditions may develop. The cold wave will first hit Rajasthan, followed by Punjab and Haryana,” he added.
According to an IMD report, cold wave conditions are expected in West Rajasthan from December 9 to December 14, while Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and West Uttar Pradesh will experience cold wave conditions starting December 11.
According to the IMD, the anticipated maximum and minimum temperatures for Monday are forecasted to be around 27 degrees Celsius and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively.
