Kishanganj, 16 November (Hindus). A three-year-old innocent boy died on Saturday after drowning in a pond-like pit in Kovaldangi of Sukh. police station area of the district.
According to the information received, illegal sand mining has been going on in Kovaldangi for the last one year due to which a pond-like pit has been formed. People say that the child was playing on the sand when his foot slipped and fell into a pit filled with water, where three-year-old Piujit’s father Gopal Singh died due to drowning. Some people, on the condition of anonymity, said that a person named Ikramul has been accused of doing illegal mining at the said site for the last one year.
After the incident, there is mourning in the village along with the family. Panchayat chief representative Mohd. Rasmuddin Faiz has expressed grief and demanded a ban on illegal mining so that such incidents do not happen again in future. The administration needs to take cognizance of this. Local police station incharge Dharampal Kumar said that the body has been sent for post-mortem and further action is underway.
