Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a major crackdown on illegal constructions, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Monday demolished unauthorized structures spanning thousands of square feet in two separate locations, Khajrana and Nipania.
The IMC staff reached Ward No 38 in Khajrana with full force and launched a demolition drive against an under-construction three-storey building spread across 5,000 square feet.
The structure, located in front of 12 Haji Colony Bada Madrasa, belonged to Zubair, son of Salim Bhai and others. Despite being served notices to halt construction, the owners continued with the work.
Upon receiving a complaint, commissioner Shivam Verma ordered immediate action. Additional commissioner Lata Agarwal confirmed that the building was being constructed for commercial purposes without obtaining the necessary approvals.
A team equipped with three Poklane machines and a JCB arrived at the site, blocking the road before initiating the demolition. Under the supervision of additional commissioner Lata Agarwal, zone officer and building officer Prabhat Tiwari and removal in charge Ashwini Bablu Kalyan, the illegal basement and ground +2 structure were razed.
Over 1 lakh sq ft land freed
In another major operation, the municipal corporation also took action against Tanya Resort in Nipania, Zone 22, Ward No. 36. The resort had constructed a clubhouse, swimming pool, restaurant, turf, covered badminton court and other facilities without obtaining necessary approvals.
Following a complaint to commissioner Shivam Verma, a team led by zone officer and building officer Shivraj Singh Yadav carried out the demolition. The illegal structures spread over more than 1 lakh square feet were removed.
