Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): Illegal construction was being carried out by the operator of shop number one of the mosque located near Chamunda Mata temple. The builders had put sheets before building the wall so that no one could know what was going on inside.
The team of Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) reached there on Monday morning and razed the illegal construction to the ground in presence of police force.
Deepak Sharma, building officer of Zone No-3, said that shop number one of Allah Karim Masjid located on Agar Road near Chamunda Mata Temple is on rent to Vivek, resident of Mangal Colony. A complaint was received about illegal construction of 5 by 49 and 21 by 47 feet by him on government land behind the shop.
On this, a notice was issued to the tenant to remove the illegal construction but till date he did not stop the construction work and did not remove encroachment. Due to this, action is being taken by the anti-encroachment gang of UMC to demolish the illegal construction.
The shop located at Chamunda Mata Chauraha turn looks normal from outside. Its limit is equal to that of the nearby medical store. But the truth becomes apparent after walking 5 feet inside the shop’s lane. The encroachment was done on government land towards the district hospital premises.
It was difficult to take JCB through the lane, so the machine was brought here through district hospital premises. The shop had deep freeze, confectionery packets which were picked up by the UMC gang and placed on the road. The JCB that arrived from the rear portion began the process of demolishing the wall by removing sheets that were put up for cover.
After demolishing the wall of encroachment, it was found that there could have been a plan to join the wall of the mosque with the new wall. Cement, gravel, tiles and other items were also kept inside.
The tenant of the shop had reached here with two women. He told officers that the construction work was being done with the consent of mosque managers, while officers say that in the year 2013 itself, the Waqf Committee had ordered the eviction of the tenant and he has forcibly occupied the shop.
