Kanpur, 04 December (HS). The Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur organized a three-day international workshop, which concluded on Wednesday. The three-day ‘School on Magnetism and Spintronics 2024’ workshop sought to empower young scientists and advance research in important scientific areas. Along with this, discussions were also held on facilitating global knowledge exchange and promoting innovation. It was said that such initiatives inspire young researchers to make meaningful contributions to the world of science and technology.

More than 100 aspiring researchers and students from all over India got an opportunity to attend the prestigious three-day international workshop organized by the Department of Physics, IIT Kanpur in collaboration with the Magnetic Society of India (MSI) from 2nd to 4th December. Which gave him an unprecedented opportunity to explore advanced areas of magnetism and spintronics. The workshop featured a stellar lineup of 30 global experts who delivered 13 comprehensive tutorials and 17 practical lectures exploring the fundamental concepts and latest advances in these dynamic fields.

Media in-charge Rucha Khedekar said that the program started with the formal inauguration ceremony, which was a mix of academic tradition and scientific possibilities. The traditional lamp lighting ceremony was led by eminent academic leaders of IIT Kanpur, Professor Kumar Vaibhav Srivastava, Dean of Administration, Professor Tapobrata Sarkar, Head of the Department of Physics and Professor Rohit Medwal, Convener of the Workshop. Participants engaged in interactive learning sessions beyond traditional lecture formats. In-depth discussions on advanced research topics and showcased their innovative works during a dedicated poster session. This practical approach fostered a collaborative environment that encouraged critical thinking and intellectual exchange.

Rohit Medwal, summarizing the objective of the workshop, said that the workshop acted as a bridge between academia and advanced research and provided a dynamic platform to young minds to explore, innovate and contribute to global scientific progress. Such efforts not only inspire future breakthroughs, but also strengthen the foundation for impactful research and transformative discoveries.
