While on one hand the crowd is gathering to have darshan of the saints and sages who have reached Mahakumbh, on the other hand some saints are also popular on social media. One such name is Abhay Singh, who is now famous as ‘IITian Baba’. Abhay studied aerospace engineering from IIT Bombay, but has now dedicated his life to spirituality. His decision has shocked not only his family but also the people across the country.

IITian Baba: Journey from engineer to saint

Abhay Singh, a resident of Sasrauli village in Jhajjar district of Haryana, studied from IIT Bombay.

  • He earned a degree in Aerospace Engineering and also got a job through campus placement.
  • His talent and educational qualifications led him to Canada, where he also got a job.
  • However, leaving his professional life, he has now chosen the path of spirituality.

Abhay says, “I have left the path of science and adopted a spiritual life.”

Father’s reaction: Not happy with son’s decision

Abhay Singh’s father Karan Singh, who is a lawyer by profession, has expressed his disappointment over his son’s decision.

  • He told that he got the information about his son’s move towards spirituality through social media.
  • Karan Singh said, “I am not happy with this decision, but it is his personal decision. I will not interfere in this.”
  • He believes that there may be some big thinking behind this step of Abhay, and he might want to give a message to the country through spirituality.

Avoidance of separation from family and talk of marriage

Father Karan Singh told that Abhay had distanced himself from the family for some time.

  • “Abhay did not like talking on the phone. He used to say to message,” he said.
  • For the last six months, Abhay had blocked the numbers of all his family members.
  • Karan Singh said that the family had discussed Abhay’s marriage, and perhaps he took this distance to avoid it.

Spiritual interest since student life

Abhay’s father also told that his son was a topper in studies since childhood and was dedicated towards what he wanted in life.

  • Abhay had traveled to Ujjain Kumbh Mela while studying in IIT.
  • His interest in meditation and yoga deepened in Canada, where he leaned toward spirituality alongside his work.

Journey from Canadian job to spirituality

Abhay Singh worked in Canada during the Corona epidemic.

  • He was living with his sister and while there he learned more about spiritual life along with work.
  • After returning to India, his father took him to Naturopathy Clinic.
  • He learned more about spirituality through meditation and yoga in the hospital.

Abhay’s message to society

This decision of Abhay Singh is a matter of inspiration not only for his family but also for the society. A man who studied from one of the most prestigious institutions in the country, worked abroad, but ultimately chose spirituality.
