A video of IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti is going viral on social media, in which he is talking about the medicinal properties of cow urine. Describing cow urine as antibacterial, anti-fungal and helpful in digestion, Kamakoti claimed that it is also helpful in providing relief from gastrointestinal disorders. His statement has given rise to a political controversy, to which Congress and DMK have expressed strong objection.
V Kamakoti made this statement during the program of Cow Sanrakshanshala in Chennai, where he said that the sannyasis have used cow urine even during high fever. According to the PTI report, his claim is true, and he said that he is an organic farmer himself, so his words are in a broader context.
DMK and Congress have strongly criticized this statement of the Director of IIT Madras. Congress leader Karti P Chidambaram termed Kamakoti’s claims as baseless and said that it has no connection with science. Meanwhile, DMK leader TKS Elangovan suggested that he should be sent somewhere else from IIT Madras.
Elangovan said, “What will he do if he is transferred from IIT Madras to any government medical college? What is he doing in IIT? He should be made the director of AIIMS. The government should immediately remove him from IIT.” Let us tell you that there are many videos of V Kamakoti on social media, which reflect his religious beliefs.
