There is a great news for the students who want to do MBA from IIT ISM Dhanbad. The institute has increased the MBA program by 28 seats in the session 2025-26. After this, nomination will now take place on a total of 120 seats. Earlier, 92 seats were available in session 2024-25. These included 62 seats of MBA and 30 seats of MBA Business Analytics. In the new session, MBA seats have been increased to 90, while Business Analytics seats will remain at 30.

Department of Management Study Background

The Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering of IIT Dhanbad was established in 1977. Initially the department had started M.Tech Industrial Engineering and Management and PhD programmes. Later,

  • MBA course was started in 1997.
  • The MBA Business Analytics program was launched in 2020.

Nomination Process: Important Dates

IIT ISM Dhanbad has started the application process for admission to MBA based on CAT 2024 score.

  • Last date for online application: 31 January 2025.
  • Personal Interview:
    • 20-23 February
    • 7-9 March
    • 22-24 March
    • 29-30 March
  • Result: Expected in the first week of May.

Fee structure and other details

  • Fees (per semester):
    • Unreserved, OBC and EWS: ₹3,67,936.
    • SC, ST and PWD: ₹67,936.
  • Mess Fee: ₹18,000 per semester.
  • There is a possibility of revision in semester fees.

Admission Criteria: Dimensions of final selection

Selection into the MBA program will be based on four key dimensions:

  1. Personal Interview (PI): 40% weightage.
  2. CAT 2024 Percentile: 35% weightage.
  3. Academic Records: 10% weightage.
  4. Industrial Experience: 10% weightage.
  5. Weightage to women candidates: Additional 5%.
