Indore (Madhya Pradesh): IIT Indore recently hosted a residential training programme for Science and Mathematics teachers of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) from Madhya Pradesh. The five-day training aimed to enhance the pedagogical skills of teachers and equip them with modern teaching techniques in science and mathematics.
Participants engaged in interactive sessions, workshops and hands-on activities designed to improve classroom delivery and student engagement. As many as 98 teachers from various JNVs of the state participated in the training programme.
The programme was inaugurated by IIT Indore chairman Dr K Sivan, who emphasised the critical role of teachers in shaping young minds and fostering a love for science and mathematics. He said, “This programme reflects IIT Indore’s commitment to improving the quality of education in the country. By empowering teachers, we aim to impact students’ lives across the state.”
Prof Suhas Joshi, Director, IIT Indore outlined the importance of school teachers in shaping students’ future and helping in nation-building. Further, he also conveyed that school teachers have a long-term impact on the students’ lives. He said “This training initiative is part of IIT Indore’s broader mission to support the Ministry of Education’s vision of improving the quality of school education in India.
The programme marks a significant step toward empowering educators and ensuring that students in JNVs acquire the skills and knowledge needed to excel in a competitive world.”
During the training, eminent faculty members and education experts from IIT Indore conducted sessions on topics that included Innovative teaching methods for conceptual clarity, Application of technology in classrooms, including simulation tools and virtual labs, Problem-solving techniques and fostering analytical thinking and Strategies for engaging students in active learning.
