Mumbai: IIT Bombay on Monday announced the launch of its new e-Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering, set to commence in June 2025. The programme, designed and delivered by the institute’s Computer Science and Engineering faculty, will be conducted online and is now open for enrolment.

The curriculum comprises six courses covering Advanced Programming, Computing Systems, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. Successful candidates will be conferred with alumni status upon completing the programme, which will culminate in a graduation ceremony on campus.

Professor Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay, described the launch as a significant step towards broadening access to high-quality computer science education. He emphasised that the programme aims to provide working professionals and aspirants beyond traditional campus students with an opportunity to deepen their expertise.

He said that through a rigorous curriculum and an innovative online delivery model, IIT Bombay seeks to empower a geographically diverse audience while maintaining its academic excellence. The programme, he noted, will contribute to the institute’s mission of fostering a large pool of experts capable of advancing technology development for the benefit of the nation.

The programme is intended for software developers, data scientists, machine learning practitioners, IT professionals, engineers, recent graduates, and technically adept individuals seeking to formalise and enhance their knowledge.

The eligibility criteria require candidates to hold a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.), Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.), or a four-year Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science or allied fields. Those with degrees in other engineering disciplines may also be considered if they meet specific qualifying conditions.

Mohan Lakhamraju, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Great Learning, the programme’s EdTech partner, highlighted the growing demand for professionals skilled in emerging fields such as cybersecurity, data management, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing.

He said the programme’s distinguished faculty and rigorous curriculum are designed to equip learners with the expertise required to thrive in these domains. IIT Bombay has previously launched three e-Postgraduate Diplomas, which have received a strong response from learners across India.
