Jaipur: Abhey Singh, popularly known as IIT Baba was detained in Rajasthan’s Jaipur on Monday, claimed media reports. IIT Baba was reportedly held for possessing ‘ganja’ (marijuana) and was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
He gained fame during the recently concluded Maha Kumbh 2025. Cops l from Shipra Path Police Station reached Classic Hotel near Riddhi Siddhi Park to detain Singh, reported ABP News.
Last week, IIT Baba claimed that he was assaulted at the newsroom of a private TV news channel in Noida. He shared his ordeal in an Instagram LIVE session.
According to reports, IIT Baba had visited a private news channel in Noida to participate in a debate. During this time, he allegedly faced misconduct and physical assault. Following the incident, he staged a sit-in protest outside a police station, though police later persuaded him to leave.
He also sat outside the police outpost in Sector 126. However, later he withdrew the protest.
Singh’s story has gained attention during the grand religious event in Prayagraj. Reflecting on his spiritual journey, he explained that his experiences and childhood trauma shaped his path. Meanwhile, his family continues to hope for reconciliation.
