IFS Nidhi Tiwari was appointed as private secretary of Prime Minister Modi: The central government today appointed Nidhi Tiwari (IFS 2014) as the private secretary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT), Nidhi Tiwari will take over the Prime Minister’s Private Secretary with immediate effect from today with the approval of the Cabinet Committee.
IFS officer Nidhi Tiwari is currently working as Deputy Secretary in the PMO (Prime Minister’s Office). Now he will take over as a private secretary of the Prime Minister on Level 12 salary matrix.
Who is Nidhi Tiwari?
Nidhi Tiwari, a 2014 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, has been working as Deputy Secretary in the PMO since 6 January 2023. Prior to this, he was working in the field of international security affairs in the Ministry of External Affairs. He joined the post of Under Secretary in 2022. Tiwari, a resident of Mahmurganj in Varanasi, secured 96th rank in the Civil Services Examination in 2013. Before passing UPSC, he was working as Assistant Commissioner in the Commerce Tax Department in Varanasi. Nidhi Tiwari has expertise and experience in the fields of foreign affairs, nuclear power, security affairs etc.
What will work?
As the Prime Minister’s Private Secretary, Nidhi will take care of the Prime Minister’s program, organizing meetings and contact with government departments. Prior to the announcement of Nidhi’s appointment, the Prime Minister had two private secretaries, Vivek Kumar and Hardik Shah.
