Nadaaniyan Review: Ibrahim Ali Khan has been grabbing everyone’s attention from the past couple of years. His banter with paparazzi goes viral on social media, and of course, he reminds everyone of young Saif Ali Khan. So, the audience has been waiting for his acting debut, and finally, the day has arrived. Nadaaniyan, which marks Ibrahim’s debut and also stars Khushi Kapoor, has started streaming on Netflix today. So, is this Karan Johar’s production venture worth a watch? Read on to know that…
The movie revolves around two characters, Pia (Khushi) and Arjun (Ibrahim). Pia is from a rich family in Delhi, and she goes to a school where all the privileged kids come. They don’t need to wear a uniform, and they dress like as if they are going to a party. A situation occurs where Pia tells her friends that she has a boyfriend, but actually she is single. Enters Arjun, a student, who is from Noida, and has got scholarship to study in the school. Pia hires him as her boyfriend and pays 25k per week. What happens next, forms the rest of the story…
Nadaaniyan is written by Ishita Moitra, Riva Razdan Kapoor, and Jehan Handa, and it is directed by Shauna Gautam. The basic story of the film is quite interesting about a girl hiring a fake boyfriend. But, the screenplay and the narration fail to impress us. The first 20-30 minutes of the film will test your patience.
The film later becomes a bit better, but once again after sometime it starts getting boring and we know where the movie is heading. It doesn’t offer anything new. One of the major problems with Nadaaniyan is that it is too glossy and bright colours are used which make it look like a movie made with Instagram filters.
If we talk about the positive points, the chemistry between Ibrahim and Khushi is quite good; something that we don’t get to watch between newcomers nowadays. The emotional scenes, and the family moments shown in the film are nice. Also, this is a type of a film that would majorly attract GenZ and Gen Alpha, and maybe they will like it.
Nadaaniyan Review – Actors’ Performances
Ibrahim Ali Khan makes his debut with the film, and he looks super hot. He is surely going to be the new National Crush. But, when it comes to acting, he needs to work on his expressions and dialogue delivery, especially in dramatic and emotional scenes. Also, Arjun is from Noida, but the way he speaks, his body language, his style; he looks like a proper Bandra boy. This is not Ibrahim’s mistake because he must have followed what the director said, but yes, we cannot ignore it.
Khushi Kapoor is just fine in the film. But, there’s a major emotional scene of her alongside Suniel Shetty, and in that particular scene she leaves a very strong mark.
In the supporting cast, we have Suniel Shetty, Mahima Chaudhary, Dia Mirza, and Jugal Hansraj, and all of them have been given a fantastic scope to perform and they are just wonderful in their respective roles. It is going to be a treat for the 90s kids to watch them in this movie. Archana Puran Singh as Braganza Malhotra once again steals our hearts.
Aaliyah Qureishi and Apoorva Mukhija are good in their parts, and Meezaan Jafri looks handsome in his special appearance. Oh, by the way, Orry also has a cameo in the film.
Nadaaniyan Review – Music
The music of Nadaaniyan is decent. Ishq Mein and Tirkit Dhoom steal the show.
Nadaaniyan Review – FInal Verdict
Overall, Nadaaniyan had the potential to be a good film if the screenplay and narration was better. But, it turns out to be an average movie that would majorly just attract GenZ and Gen Alpha. Also, we had more expectations from Ibrahim.
