New Delhi: The case of disputed trainee IAS officer Pooja Khedkar is in the news. His difficulties have increased considerably after the fraud done to become an IAS officer. In the hearing held today, the Supreme Court has extended its interim order to protect controversial trainee IAS officer Pooja Khedkar from arrest. Pooja Khedkar is accused of using fake documents to become an IAS officer. The case will be heard on 21 April. Pooja Khedkar will also get protection from arrest till 21 April.

What’s the matter?

Delhi Police submitted an important report to the High Court in the case of trainee IAS Pooja Khedkar. It claimed that Pooja Khedkar appeared in the Civil Services Examination 2022 and 2023 by giving false disability certificates. Pooja Khedkar received special concessions for selection in UPSC using fake disability certificate. Not only this, despite getting less marks in the examination, he passed the exam on the basis of concessions. Got 841 All India Rank (AIR) at UPSC. But the investigation conducted by the crime branch of Delhi Police has revealed that it must have made a fake disability certificate.

According to the status report submitted by Delhi Police, two disability certificates received by Pooja Khedkar in 2022 and 2024 from Ahmednagar Medical Authority may be fake. But when he was verified by the medical officer, he refused to give this certificate. Therefore, the authority said that the disability certificate claimed by Pooja Khedkar should not have been issued by any medical authority.

 

Major changes in IAS application process

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has made significant changes in the Civil Services 2025 Examination Application Process. According to the notification issued by UPSC, the Commission has made it mandatory to submit documents such as educational, caste and physical disability certificates online at preliminary examination (prelims) level itself.

The step has been taken after the Pooja Khedkar dispute, in which she was accused of creating identity cards to get additional efforts in UPSC CSE 2022, giving false information and hiding the facts. Previously, the candidates had to upload these documents only after passing the main examination.
