Rishabh Pant: Delhi Capitals did not retain Rishabh Pant ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Pant was the captain of the team and is considered the best wicketkeeper in the world. Even after this the franchise did not retain him. Now Pant will participate in the mega auction of IPL 2025. Before this, there is constant speculation as to why Rishabh Pant broke his ties with Delhi Capitals?
There could be a money issue between Pant and Delhi!
Former Indian team captain and veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar believes that Delhi and Pant will part ways over money. Many times when a player is retained, there is a discussion between the franchise and the player regarding the fees. As you can see, some of the players who were retained received more than the number-one retention fee. So I think maybe there was some agreement (between Pant and Delhi), but I think Delhi would definitely want Rishabh Pant back because they need a captain as well.
Rishabh Pant’s comment came on the video
Rishabh Pant himself has commented on Sunil Gavaskar’s video. Till now Pant has not said anything about retention and auction but this time he has broken his silence. In the comment of the video shared on X, Pant wrote, ‘I must say that this is not about money.’
Pant has been a part of Delhi since the beginning
Rishabh Pant has been playing in IPL since 2016. He made his debut for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). Pant has been retained in every auction since then. The franchise made Pant its captain in the 2021 season. Even after he missed a season due to a car accident, the franchise retained him.
