Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, KKR won the IPL 2024 trophy, but in the mega auction he was bought by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 26.75 crore, making him the second most expensive player in IPL history. KKR had earlier released Venkatesh Iyer, but later bought back for Rs 23.75 crore.
Now 30 -year -old Venkatesh Iyer is seen in the race for KKR’s captaincy. He made his debut for KKR in 2021 and has taken 1326 runs and 3 wickets in 50 IPL matches so far.

However, Venkatesh does not have the experience of captaincy at any level, but he plays for the team of Madhya Pradesh and believes that “every player’s opinion should be respected in the team, whether it is new or experienced.”
