Warsaw: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly murdered an 18-year-old girl he met on the bus in Poland’s Katowice city in August 2023, claimed local reports. The man appeared in court last week for trial. The accused then reportedly had sex with the corpse. Shockingly, the man told the court that he decided to kill the 18-year-old after flipping a coin, reported Daily Mail.
The deceased, Wiktoria Kozielska, was returning home from a party when she met Mateusz Hepa, According to the report, the accused had just finished his shift at a car repair shop. He lured her to his flat. The girl reportedly fell asleep. Hepa then reportedly beat her and strangulated her to death with a rope. Later, the accused raped the girl’s body.
Hepa wrapped Kozielska’s body in a plastic cover and called the police. In chilling remarks, reminiscent of the bestselling book ‘The Dice Man’, in which the protagonist made the decision by rolling a dice, the 20-year-old accused said, “I tossed a coin, it came up heads so I killed her.”
“If it had been tails she would probably still be alive,” he told the court as reported by the online website. When the accused was arrested, he reportedly told police that he felt the need to kill. While appearing for the trial, the accused told the court the town of Gliwice, before killing the girl, he had been thinking of murdering someone and was looking for a victim.
The accused told the court that he had given a choice to the girl to go home or to his flat, however, she decided to go with him.The girl’s parents were also present in the court when the accused narrated the entire incident.
Hepa said that when they went to his place, the girl fell asleep after interacting for some time. He further added that he walked around the room and tried to wake her up. He stated that he then tossed a coin and it came out to heads and then killed the 18-year-old girl.
Hepa failed to give the reason for killing the girl. “‘I don’t know why I did it. Certain things happen, but I have no influence on them,” he told the court as reported by Daily Mail. he added that he used to toss a coin sometimes when he had a difficult choice to make.
Narrating the incident, the accused said that he sat on the girl’s chest and strangled her. Notably, the girl tried to resist but in vain. The accused then undressed the girl and raped her body. He then dressed the body and put it in a bag. He initially decided to hide the girl’s body.
Hepa was in custody since last years. The first hearing of the trial took place on January 8. The next hearing is schedule don February 8 with Hepa facing a possible life imprisonment.
