Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Income Tax (I-T) department has interrogated Suarav Sharma’s close aide Chetan Singh on Saturday in connection with benami property case. It is learnt that during interrogation, Chetan Singh revealed many vital information which would be followed by investigative officers in due course of probe.

Meanwhile, the I-T department is going through incriminating documents seized earlier on the instance of Chetan Singh. They contain names to which either money was paid or received. The money trail is being checked to reach the end point.

Notably, the vehicle, containing 52 kg gold and Rs 11 crore, was seized in an abandoned condition from Mendori village some days back, was registered in the name of Chetan Singh-the confidante of Saurabh Sharma. When Chetan Singh was first interrogated after few days of gold and cash seizure, he had given vital information to I-T officers.

The I-T department is interested to know about benami properties unearthed by Lokayukta police in the raid against Saurabh Sharma and his associates but is yet to write any official letter to Lokayukta police establishment in this regard.

Currently Saurabh Sharma and his wife are in Dubai and already the I-T department has issued a lookout notice against him. The IT officials are indeed waiting for his return so that they can grill him to get answers to volley of questions.

They want to know that from where he obtained 52 kg gold biscuits and cash of Rs 11 crore. The Lokayukta police is also keen to know from the I-T department about details regarding seizure of gold and cash from the abandoned car as it too had carried out raid against Saurabh Sharma and believes that gold and cash could belong to the main accused.
