Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Income Tax (IT) Department is going to approach the Lokayukta police for information regarding benami properties linked to Saurabh Sharma, a former constable in the Transport Department, and his family.

Sources said that IT department’s  investigating as well as the benami wing will ascertain whether the Lokayukta police have any documents related to benami properties of  Saurabh or his family.

If the Lokayukta sleuths have come across any such documents, the IT department would ask to share the same. Meanwhile, following the raid on builder Rajesh Sharma of Trishul Construction, the IT department is suspecting his involvement in benami transactions.

The department is planning to examine the incriminating documents and issue notices to individuals associated with Rajesh Sharma whose names have figured in the seized documents.

Notably, a few days ago, the IT department had seized 52 kg gold biscuits and Rs 11 crores in cash from an abandoned SUV in Mendori village. The IT department fathoms that the seized gold biscuits and huge cash is linked to Saurabh Sharma.

Lokayukta police had also conducted raids at the house of Saurabh Sharma and seized huge cash and silver bricks. The sleuths have also written to the IT department seeking information related to seizure of gold and cash from the abandoned vehicle.
