Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, who has previously spoken about battling depression, has now shared that he struggles with weeks of depression whenever his films fail to perform well.
Aamir, who describes himself as an ’emotional person, said while speaking at ABP Network’s Ideas of India 2025, “When my films don’t work, I feel sad. Filmmaking is tough, and sometimes things don’t go as planned. In Laal Singh Chaddha, my performance was a bit too high, and it didn’t work as well as Tom Hanks’ version.”
“When my films fail, I go into a sort of depression for two to three weeks. Then, I sit with my team, analyze what went wrong, and learn from it. I really value my failures because they push me to do better,” the actor added.
It may be mentioned that Laal Singh Chaddha, which released in 2022, was declared as a flop at the box office.
Last year, Aamir’s ex-wife, filmmaker Kiran Rao, had revealed that the 3 Idiots actor was ‘deeply affected’ after the film’s failure. In an interview with Zoom, Kiran had said, “When you put in all the effort, and it doesn’t work, which is what happened with Laal Singh Chaddha. And it definitely affected Aamir quite deeply.”
She said that it affected them because it was a project that had seen so many stages, it had done the Covid-19 rollercoaster. She said that Laal Singh Chaddha had been a dream project for Aamir and he had been working on getting the rights for the script for a decade before they made it.
Aamir’s next film Sitaare Zameen Par will release in December 2025. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film is a remake of Spanish film, Champions. A few days back, Aamir confirmed that the shooting of the film is going on.
He will also produce Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, starring Preity Zinta, Sunny Deol and others.
