‘It is better not to play than to play just for the sake of playing’

Ashwin further said, ‘Many people speculated about my retirement and said a lot. But all the decisions were my own. I played the first Test match, did not play the second, came back again in the third Test. But could not give good performance. Therefore, it was decided not to play the fourth test match. Since this was my farewell Test series, I was included in the team despite my poor performance. But I believe that playing for the sake of playing is better than not playing at all. I want to be honest to the game. If I am eligible to play in the team, I would not like you to include me in the team. ,
