VIDEO: Huge Ruckus In Pune As NCP (SP) Protestors Clash With Police, Attempt To Manhandle DCP Sandeep Gill During Arrest After Blocking Metro For Two Hours |

A huge ruckus and altercation erupted today between Pune Police and NCP(SP) protesters near the PMC Metro station, as demonstrators blocked the Pune Metro for two hours, from 12:45 to 2:45 PM. The protestors were demanding employment opportunities for local candidates in the Pune Metro, Pune Municipal Corporation, and other related issues, as per IANS.

During the protest, a heated altercation broke out between the police and the protestors. Sharad Pawar group’s Pune city vice-president, Narendra Pavtekar, stood on the metro tracks near the Pune Municipal Corporation station in protest. At one point, a protestor attempted to set himself on fire by pouring petrol on his body.

During the arrests, one protester was observed trying to manhandle DCP Sandeep Singh Gill, which made the situation more heated.

The police and protesters engaged in a standoff after the demonstrators had blocked the metro for more than an hour. As the protest continued to disrupt metro services, authorities arrested several individuals involved in the altercation. Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill was trying to engage with the protesters when a clash occurred. This led to the police lathi-charge to remove the protesters from the metro tracks. Reports suggest that the protesters physically attacked the police during the altercation.

Fire Brigade officials were also deployed at the spot as the protesters had threatened to jump from the overhead metro track they had occupied.

Pavtekar expelled from party

Meanwhile, NCP(SP) Pune chief Prashant Jagtap clarified that the party had no connection with the protest led by worker Narendra Pavtekar. He also stated that Pavtekar had joined the party just three months ago from the Ajit Pawar faction and had not taken permission for the protest from the party. NCP Pune city president Prashant Jagtap emphasised that the protest was a personal action by Pavtekar and that the party had no involvement in it.
