Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In an unusual turn of events, a woman and her family members were shocked to know that her future husband & his mother had duped them on pretext of big dreams and a fake lifestyle.
The couple had an engagement after the man had impersonated himself to be an IT engineer and claimed that he had a house in the city. Later, the woman’s family came to know that the man neither had a proper job nor a house.
Accused accepted dowry and goods worth 4.9 lakh
According to the police, one Sunil Tiwari lodged a complaint stating that he got his daughter engaged to Saksham Tripathi after his family told them that Saksham is an engineer and owned a house in the city.
He and his mother Rajni had taken dowry of Rs 3.40 lakh cash and goods worth Rs 1.50 lakh. Later, they again demanded Rs 3 lakh from the victim and this when the girl’s family came to know about the reality of the accused.
The police registered a case against the accused under sections 318(4) (Whoever cheats and thereby dishonestly induces the person deceived to deliver any property to any person) and 3/4 of Dowry Prohibition Act.
