Huawei launched the world’s first tri-fold phone, Mate XT Ultimate Design, in September 2024, whose screen folds three times. Now, according to a tipster, the brand is preparing to launch the successor of this phone, which could be named Huawei Mate XT 2. The tipster has also shared some information about its processor.
Details of next generation processor
Tipster Fixed Focus Digital on Chinese social media site Weibo gave information about Huawei Mate XT 2. According to the report, the new tri-fold smartphone will be powered by the latest Kirin 9020 processor, which will be a major upgrade over the Kirin 9010 processor used in the existing Huawei Mate XT Ultimate design. Apart from this, a new camera sensor will also be available in this phone.
Importance of Kirin 9020 processor
The Kirin 9020 processor is also being used in Huawei’s current Mate 70 series, and it will be more powerful than the chipset used in the Mate XT Ultimate design, which will also improve the performance of the smartphone.
Price of current tri-fold phone
Huawei launched the Mate XT Ultimate Design in September 2024, with a price starting at CNY 19,999 (approximately Rs 2,35,900). This price is for the base model with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage. However, this phone is currently available only in China and is not available in the international market.

The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design runs HarmonyOS 4.2 and features a 10.2-inch flexible LTPO OLED main screen. When folded once, the screen becomes 7.9 inches and when folded a second time, it becomes 6.4 inches. The phone features a Kirin 9010 chipset, a 50-megapixel primary camera (with OIS), a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 5.5x optical zoom and OIS. Furthermore, it is backed by a 5600mAh battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless charging support.
