HSNC University, Mumbai To Launch A Cyber Vigilance Cell In Association with AGNI |
22nd March 2024 – Hyderabad Sind National Collegiate University (HSNC University), Mumbai, a State Public University, is set to launch a groundbreaking initiative – the Cyber Vigilance Cell in collaboration with Action for Good Governance & Networking in India (AGNI) on 24th March 2025. The Cyber Vigilance Cell aims to raise awareness about the growing concerns of cyber threats and to promote cyber safety among students, faculty, staff and the larger community in today’s increasingly digitised world.
The inaugural event will be graced by Shri Brijesh Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister of Maharashtra & Additional Director General of Police in Maharashtra, as the Chief Guest. Adv. (Dr.) Prashant Mali, internationally renowned cyber law and cyber security expert; Shri V. Ranganathan, former Bombay Municipal Commissioner will join as Guests of Honour .
This initiative is a significant step towards empowering students, faculty, and the wider community to protect themselves from cyber threats, promote digital literacy, and help build a safer online environment.
Speaking about the initiative on the eve of the launch, Col. Dr. Hemalata K. Bagla, Vice Chancellor of HSNC University, Mumbai said, “The digital age has brought numerous opportunities but also increased risks. With the launch of the Cyber Vigilance Cell, we are committed to empowering our students, faculty and the larger community with the necessary tools and knowledge to stay safe online. This initiative reflects our commitment to creating a secure and informed digital environment for all. We are taking several such proactive steps.”

About the Cyber Vigilance Cell
The Cyber Vigilance Cell will act as a bridge between victims of cyber-crime and relevant authorities, providing guidance and resources. It will also advocate for a Cyber Advisory Committee consisting of cyber-security experts, legal professionals and law enforcement agencies to enhance policy development and best practices.
The Cyber Vigilance Cell will focus on:
* Building Cyber Awareness: Educating students, faculty, and the public on cyber threats and safe online practices.
* Strengthening Digital Resilience: Implementing preventive strategies to safeguard sensitive information.
* Encouraging Collaboration: Partnering with citizen groups and law enforcement agencies to promote cybersecurity.
