Howrah, 26 November (Hindu). Howrah Police, acting on a tip-off on Tuesday, arrested a person with illegal weapons and bullets. This action was taken at around 1:15 am on Monday at 24 A/1 bus stand (near Howrah Fire Station) of Golabari police station area.
Giving information on Tuesday, Howrah Police Commissioner Praveen Tripathi said that the name of the arrested person is Rafaqat Hussain (27). He is a resident of Madartala Lane, Pilkhana. The police team has recovered a single shotter, a seven mm pistol and three live cartridges from him.
Police Commissioner said that under Golabari police station case number 366/24, dated 26.11.2024, a case has been registered against the accused under section 25(1-B)(a)/29 of the Indian Arms Act.
Praveen Tripathi said that this success is the result of the activeness of DD (Detective Department) Howrah Police Commissionerate team and precise action on secret information. He said that the interrogation of the accused is going on, so that the source of these illegal weapons and the purpose of its use can be ascertained. Police described the incident as an important step for the security of the area and said they would continue strict vigil to prevent such crimes in future.
