You forget to drink water in water and can face dehydration. Health experts always suggest drinking water in the right amount to ensure your health doesn’t suffer. Ayurveda speaks on this. Water also includes juices, beverages and health drinks, which act as water replacements for good health.

Why is water essential?

Our body functions with the right consumption of water since it consists of 60% of our weight. It is found in a few of our body parts. An adult needs two litres of water daily. When we lose body water through activities, this means we need to be hydrated. Water hydrates the most and helps the heart, maintains joints and muscles working, and removes all the body toxins.

Water provides the required nutrients and also keeps body temperature even. Many health troubles start with less water intake, like allergies, hypertension, etc. Drinking water makes your skin glow. In Ayurveda, your doshas impact water intake. Those with Pitta dosha are more prone to being thirsty than Kapa and Vata doshas. Ayurveda tells us to drink water in the morning to flush away toxins.

In winter, you tend to forget to drink water. Thus, your mouth remains parched. You feel tired, lightheaded, irritable and can face constipation. Winter, too, requires regular water intake.

Water intake and winter

With meals: Start by having a glass of water before your meal. Keep a glass with you and sip rather than gulp. If you want, flavour the water with lemon or cucumber slices.

Hydrating options: Try options like fruit or vegetable juices, homemade winter soups, high-water-content fruits and veggies, and even electrolyte drinks.

Avoid caffeine and alcohol: Many are caffeine addicts or like bingeing on alcohol during the cold season. But caffeine products reduce water from your body. Alcohol makes you feel warm initially but later reduces your body’s heat. Avoid them like the plague in this season.

Time your hydration: Carry a flask in the house or outside to avoid forgetting about drinking water. Set reminders to drink. Drink a glass after waking and before sleeping.

While these tips keep you hydrated in winter, add Patanjali offerings to your routine. Try the Patanjali Guava Beverage (65 Ml and 200 Ml), a ready-to-drink option containing fresh pink guava fruit pulp. The Patanjali Mix Fruit Beverage (1 Ltr) has fresh fruit pulps of different fruits. Or drink Patanjali Litchi Juice (65 Ml) made out of fresh litchi fruit concentrate.

Try Patanjali Giloy Amla Juice (500 Ml) for a healthy twist. Mix with water and consume after meals. Or choose Patanjali Brahmi Sharbat (750 Ml), a high-quality juice consisting of Brahmi extracts. Just put a few spoons of the juice in water and consume. Staying hydrated in winter is easy with the tips and Patanjali.
