How to check heart health from smartwatch: a new discovery that can change life

Do you also wear smartwatch or fitness bands but only keep it limited to step count and heart rate? If yes, then this news is very important for you. Scientists have now discovered a new way to check the heart health through these devices – and that too with a very easy calculation.

Now smartwatch will tell heart health

Scientists at the Phinwberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University have discovered how efficiently our heart is working. They have extracted a new parameter by dividing the daily average heart rate from the daily average step count, which DHRPS (Steps at Daily Heart Rate) Is being said

How does DHRPS work?

This calculation is very simple:

DHRPS = Daily Average Heart Rate ÷ Daily Average Step Count

This simply means that if a person has high heart rate but the step count is low, then the value of DHRPS will be higher. And if this value is high, it can be a sign of your heart’s ill health. That is, the heart has to work hard to maintain its normal functionality – which can be a danger bell.

Which diseases can be in danger?

Researchers analyzed 5.8 million days of data and 51 billion steps and found that people who had high DHRPS levels were more at risk of diseases given below:

  • Type-2 diabetes

  • High blood pressure (hypertension)

  • Heart failure

  • Coronary atherosclerosis (heartburn interruption)

These diseases are directly related to heart functionality, and DHRPS can help identify them.

Correct use of smartwatch: Do not be limited to just count step

Jhanlin Chen, who is the lead author of this research, said that this is a very important indicator. This shows how hard your heart is. You can estimate your heart condition through just a simple calculation. Now smartwatch or fitness bands have become important not only for fashion or light tracking, but also for serious health monitoring.

What to do if DHRPS is more?

If you find that DHRPS levels are high based on the data of your smartwatch, then it is time to make some important changes.

1. Exercise at least 30 minutes daily:
Cardio exercise such as fast walking, cycling or swimming helps to strengthen your heart.

2. Take a healthy diet:
Green vegetables, fruits, omega-3 fatty acid-rich diets and distance from processed food-all these are good for your heart.

3. Reduce stress:
Danced mental stress from meditation, yoga and adequate sleep, as stress is also a major cause of heart disease.

4. Keep an eye on blood pressure and cholesterol:
Keep tracking these important indicators with the help of smart devices and regular health checkups.

5. Consult a doctor from time to time:
If DHRPS is constantly seen to be increased, then meet the doctor and conduct a complete investigation.
