Mumbai: In recent days, Mumbai has been seeing a temperature variation of about 7 to 8 degrees Celsius between its highest and lowest temperatures. On Friday, January 3, the city experienced an almost 20-degree difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures, a variation that meteorologists deem quite uncommon for this season, according to reports from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted a bright day in the area, with unclouded skies all day long. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) states that temperatures will vary from a low of 20 degrees Celsius in the early morning to a high of 32 degrees Celsius in the afternoon, leading to a predominantly warm day. According to the IMD prediction, sunrise is anticipated at 7:11 AM and sunset will take place at 6:13 PM on January 3.

Hottest January Since 2016

The highest daytime temperature in Mumbai for January since 2016 was recorded on Friday, reaching 36°C. The extreme weather data from the IMD indicates the city reached 37.3°C on January 1, 2016. The temperature recorded on Friday is the first instance in nine years where the city has reached 36°C in January.

The weather forecast for January 5 and 6 suggests predominantly clear and sunny conditions. As per the most recent IMD report, January 5 is expected to be sunny, with temperatures varying from a minimum of 21 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) stands at 111 today, indicating ‘moderate’ air quality in Mumbai. The current AQI shows slight improvement compared to recent weeks.
