England’s Holly Ranson was denied a double on the opening day of the Willingdon Sports Club Indian Racketlon Open, sponsored by HSBC.

Ranson partnered World No.1 Leon Griffiths of Great Britain to defeat Denmark”s Stine Jacobsen and Cornelius Rademacher to win the Elite Mixed Doubles title.

Griffiths and Ranson gelled well to win the TT 21-16, the badminton 21-13, squash 21-16 and to clinch the title they needed to win four points in tennis which they won 4-0.

However, she later tripped up in the Elite Women’s doubles final. She and American Stef.e Chung went down to Pauline Cave and Stein Jacobsen of Denmark 18-21, 21-10, 21-13, 6-0.

Racketlon comprises of four sports: table tennis, badminton, squash and tennis. Each match is played in that order, beginning with TT and ending with tennis..Each discipline is played over 21 points.

The player who scores the most points from the four sports wins the Racketlon match.
