Kolkata, 03 December (Hindustan Reporter). A single bench of the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday said that if public property is damaged or government personnel are attacked during demonstrations or rallies, the court can impose control on such demonstrations in future.

Making this comment, a bench headed by Justice Tirthankar Ghosh gave permission to an independent organization to hold a demonstration on Rani Rasmani Road in Kolkata on December 5. This demonstration will be held against the attacks and atrocities on minority Hindus in Bangladesh.

Justice Ghosh made it clear that if any kind of vandalism or attack on government personnel takes place during this demonstration, then in future the court will take strict steps to control such events. He said that such incidents during protests are often done to attract public interest, which the court will not tolerate under any circumstances.

About two thousand 500 people are likely to participate in this demonstration. Since the venue falls under the jurisdiction of Eastern Command, the organizers had taken permission from the Army and Kolkata Police. Kolkata Police had made it clear that they would have no objection to the program if the Army gives permission. After this the High Court allowed the demonstration, but also issued a warning.
