Islamabad, 16 November (HIST). Due to snowfall in Gilgit-Baltistan, road and communication links have been cut in the area. Due to heavy snowfall, the temperature in the entire hilly area has dropped to minus 14 Celsius. This has increased the troubles of the area residents.

According to Dawn newspaper, heavy snowfall in the upper reaches of Gilgit-Baltistan has closed major roads including Babusar Top and Khunjerab Pass. Due to this, the Pakistan and China route has been blocked at many places.

Officials confirmed that several vehicles were stranded at Khunjerab Pass. Baltistan Road is blocked due to rock fall in Roundu. Gilgit-Baltistan has warned of continued heavy snowfall in Hunza, Ghizer, Skardu, Shigar and Ghanch districts. According to Skardu Deputy Commissioner, the Army has rescued 15 travelers stranded in snow-covered Deosai.
