The impact of the dusty storm in Delhi and NCR on Friday evening was clearly seen at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. Flight operations were badly affected due to this sudden weather malfunction and hundreds of passengers were stranded at the airport for hours. Passengers reported that more than 50 flights were delayed, causing a stampede-like situation on Terminal-3.
Complaints of passengers against airlines
Many passengers complained that they had to wait at the airport for 12 hours, but no accurate information or assistance was given.

- According to airport sources, more than 50 domestic flights left late from Friday evening to Saturday morning,
- The routes of 25 flights were changed, and
- 7 flights were canceled.

- Many people also accused the airline staff of misbehavior.
- A toi report also reported that four people were injured due to the dusty storm.
Airlines reactions
Air India:
On the complaint of poor management by a user, Air India replied that “We understand the weather related problems and are trying to help the passengers.”
Indigo:
- A user complained about Indigo’s flight 6E 2198 (Kolkata to Delhi) that the flight time was changed 6 times.
- IndiGo said in reply that “The approximate departure time is at 03:15 pm. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”
Result: Crowd, inconvenience and dissatisfaction
This entire incident has once again revealed that bad weather and technical problems together affect flight operations, the biggest brunt of this has to be suffered by common travelers.
