Haryana: Indian Air Force (IAF) Flight Lieutenant Siddharth Yadav was laid to rest with full military honours on Friday, April 4, in his native village in Majra Bhalkhi, Haryana. His tricolour-draped coffin was surrounded by his family and loved ones, as they bid a final farewell to the young officer.

Siddharth’s fiancée, Sonia Yadav, was also present at the scene, standing by his coffin, heartbroken yet proud of their bond, which was cut short after they got engaged on March 31. Their wedding was reportedly due for November 2.

“Baby tu aaya nahi…tune kaha tha mujhe lene aayega (Baby, you didn’t come back to take me with you). We shared a connection words can’t describe. His commitment to duty was unmatched,” Sonia said, as per a report by Republic TV.

As per reports, Siddharth, tragically lost his life in a Jaguar fighter jet crash during a routine training sortie near Jamnagar, Gujarat on Wednesday, April 2. The Jaguar fighter jet, part of the IAF’s deep-penetration strike fleet, had taken off from Jamnagar Air Force Station for a standard mission.

However, the aircraft crashed around 9:30 PM near Suvarda village, about 12 kilometers from the Jamnagar city. While one of the pilots managed to eject safely, Siddharth did not survive. Local villagers reported hearing a loud explosion followed by thick smoke rising from the crash site. They later discovered Siddharth’s body at the location and notified the authorities.

The IAF has initiated a court of inquiry into the crash, with preliminary reports pointing to the possibility of technical malfunction. However, an official confirmation is still awaited.
