Patna. The hearing will be held in Patna High Court today (5 February) in Patna High Court demanding the cancellation of BPSC 70th PT exam. Earlier on January 31, the hearing could not be held on 31 January due to Justice Arvind Singh Chandel being on leave. The candidates had performed a fierce demonstration on 30 January, in which there was a clash with the police three times.
Affidavit was sought from BPSC
In the last hearing held on 16 January, the Patna High Court had directed the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) to file an affidavit before January 30.
In this case, many other organizations including Prashant Kishore’s party ‘Jansuraj’ have filed petitions. The petitions mainly have two demands:
- The BPSC 70th PT exam should be canceled and conducted the exam again.
- The FIR filed against the protesting candidates should be withdrawn.
Supreme Court advised to go to High Court
Earlier, Bihar’s Anand Legal and Forum Trust filed a petition in the Supreme Court, seeking cancellation of the BPSC 70th PT examination.
However, the Supreme Court refused to hear the case and said that the petitioners should appeal to the Patna High Court under Article 226 of the Constitution.
A bench of Supreme Court CJI Sanjeev Khanna, Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice KV Vishwanathan clearly said,
“The matter should be taken up under the jurisdiction of Patna High Court itself.”
What is BPSC 70th PT exam dispute?
Many candidates have made allegations of paper leaks and disturbances in the examination regarding BPSC 70th PT exam. After this, the candidates demonstrated for eight hours in Patna on 30 January, causing the situation to become tense. During the protest, there were several clashes between the police and the candidates.
Why is today’s hearing important?
Today’s hearing in Patna High Court is considered important in this case. If the court orders the BPSC to conduct the examination again, it will be the news of relief for thousands of candidates. At the same time, if the High Court dismisses the petition, the protesting candidates may get a big shock.
Now it has to be seen what decision the Patna High Court gives in this matter.
