Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently spoke candidly about Melodi Memes in a light-hearted moment with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamat in his podcast ‘People’s’ series. During the conversation, Kamat humorously mentioned PM Modi’s Italy connections, which made the discussion even more interesting.
Nikhil Kamat’s question and PM Modi’s answer
Nikhil Kamat said smilingly,
“I like pizza a lot and pizza is an Italian dish. “People say you know a lot about Italy.”
On this he asked PM Modi,
“Would you like to say something about this?”
Prime Minister Modi reacted to this in a light manner and said,
“He keeps going.”

Does PM Modi watch Memes?
Kamat also asked whether the Prime Minister sees viral memes on social media. To this PM Modi replied smilingly,
“I don’t waste my time in that.”
The Prime Minister clarified that he does not pay much attention to memes and does not believe in wasting time thinking about such issues.
What are ‘Melodi Memes’?
Melodi means Modi + Meloni. These memes first went viral in September last year, when a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni talking and laughing together during the G7 summit in Italy went viral on social media.
After the summit, Giorgia Meloni shared a selfie video with PM Modi, in which she wrote,
“Hello from the Melody team.”
Prime Minister Modi also wrote while replying to this post,
“Long live India-Italy friendship!”
After this there was a flood of ‘Melodi Memes’ on social media. These memes often present the relations between India and Italy in a funny way.
PM Modi’s revelation about food
Food was also discussed during the conversation, where PM Modi revealed that he is not fond of food. He said,
“I happily eat whatever is served in any country. But if you take me to a restaurant and ask me to look at the menu and order something, I won’t be able to do it.”
Story from Sangh days
The Prime Minister shared an anecdote from his early days, when he used to work for the Sangh. He said that ordering food in restaurants was challenging for him.
“I always used to ask senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley ji to order food for me. I just requested him that the food should be vegetarian. I don’t know whether what is written on the menu and what comes in front of me will be the same thing or not. That’s why I never paid much attention to him.”
