The Hazrat Khwaja Garib Nawaz Welfare Association has urged the police to prevent people from entering the Haji Malang dargah in Kalyan and chanting “Jai Shri Ram” slogans.
In complaint to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is also in charge of the home portfolio, the association secretary Mohammed Yusuf said regularly such slogans are being chanted by people with great regularity. He said the atmosphere was being deliberately vitiated as a result. He alleged that deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde, who is from Thane district, was openly encouraging these activities and demanded an FIR against him.
Yusuf claimed that the courts have already declared that there was no Hindu temple at the spot and yet claims were being made to that effect. He said his association will be compelled to move the court to maintain the sanctity of the dargah if the local police authorities do not put an end to the chanting of slogans in the dargah.
