New Delhi: Bangladesh founder Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib-ur-Rehman’s ancestral house in Dhaka, after the mob sabotage and arson, became a sense of resentment among the activists of the party Awami League established by Mujib.
On receiving this information, Sheikh Hasina wrote in a message posted on Facebook, “You can destroy a building, but you cannot erase history.” The former Prime Minister of Bangladesh became emotional while sending this message.
It is well known that pro -Pakistan elements in Bangladesh instigated students for broader violence and arson under concocted excuses. Later the students along with other citizens also joined. These rioters vandalized Sheikh’s house and set him on fire.
Sheikh Hasina wrote in her Facebook message about this, ‘Why are they afraid of a house? We lived in that house of Dhanmandi (Dhaka) for years. Earlier, that house was set on fire, now it is burnt to ashes. Did I not do anything for the country? Then why so much disrespect? The only memory of me and my sister has been erased… I want to ask my people who are behind it? I want justice. Architecture can be destroyed, but history can never be erased. ‘ When he was writing so much and speaking, his voice looked broken. It was clear that they must be crying. Bulldozers were run on this burnt building and the Palestinian flag was hoisted.
