Chandigarh: Haryana minister and senior BJP leader Anil Vij, who was served a show-cause notice by the BJP for publicly speaking against chief minister Nayab Saini and state party chief Mohan Lal Badoli, on Wednesday submitted his reply to the BJP high command.
Issued by Badoli on Monday on the directions of party national president, the show-cause notice accused Vij – who is state energy, transport and labour minister – of making “serious allegations that are against the party’s policy and internal discipline’’.
The party also took a serious note of the timing of his remarks which came at a time when the Saini-government was celebrating 100 days in office and the Delhi polls drew near.
Vij, 71, a seven-time MLA from Ambala cantt, who is the senior most legislator in the state, was asked to respond to the show-cause notice within three days.
Interacting with the newspersons in Ambala, Vij said that he was asked to give his reply within three days and he had submitted it in time. He however, asked how come it was already in the media even before he got the hard copy. He also asked the party to probe how a sensitive document like the notice was leaked to the media before he got it.
Vij, however, refused to share the details of his reply.
It may be recalled that Vij had a few days ago said that he (Saini) would come to know about people’s problems only if he got down from his helicopter (udan khatola). He had also threatened to sit on fast-unto-death over alleged non-compliance of his orders by the authorities.
Notably, his remarks came in the backdrop of his demand for suspension of a police officer and an officer of the food and supplies department which had not been complied with by the government.
He had also accused some party leaders of working against him during the assembly polls held in October last year. Vij had also demanded Badoli’s resignation on “moral grounds’’ after Badoli was named in a rape case in Kasauli town of neighbouring Himachal Pradesh.
