Harry Kane finally got his hands on his first major trophy and it came with a cold beer shower. The England striker was left drenched during a live TV interview after scoring in Bayern Munich’s 2-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach, capping off a historic day for both the club and two of its biggest names.
While Bayern had already secured the Bundesliga title six days earlier, the celebrations hit full swing at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. For Kane, it marked the end of a long wait for silverware, and for Thomas Muller, it was a farewell to remember.
The match wasn’t just about goals or glory it was also a heartfelt send-off for club legend Thomas Müller, who is ending a 25-year association with Bayern. The 35-year-old, playing in his 751st appearance, didn’t find the net but received a touching guard of honour as he left the pitch in the 83rd minute. The scene was filled with emotion as substitutes and staff lined up to applaud him, with some of the first-team players joining in later.
Meanwhile, Kane celebrated with his wife Kate and children Ivy, Vivienne, and Louis on the pitch after lifting the iconic Meisterschale. After years of near-misses in England, Kane’s trophy drought is finally over and by the looks of it, he’s just getting started.
Thomas Muller final speech for fans
Muller, in his post-match speech to the fans said, “I loved being a modern gladiator. It is a difficult moment but also a nice one. The appreciation from all of you is unique. The feeling of scoring in this stadium is priceless, but also the people in the dressing room.I will miss it but I can see young and hungry players. We are prepared for the future.”
Kane opened the scoring 31 minutes in, heading in a curling Michael Olise shot for his 25th goal of the league campaign. Gladbach had several chances to equalise but were let down by poor finishing. Olise tapped in from close range to score a goal of his own in the final minute, sealing the occasion.
Kane’s long-time England and Tottenham teammate Eric Dier, who will join Monaco in the summer, was also given a send-off before the match.
