Brook banned by the new IPL rule
According to IPL rules:
“If a player registers in the auction and after being selected makes himself unavailable before the start of the tournament, he will be banned for the next two seasons.”
“However, if the player is out of injury or medical reasons, there will be no restriction on him.”
This is the second consecutive time Brooke withdrew his name from the IPL. He also withdrew his name for personal reasons in the 2024 season.
Harry Brooke’s statement – “Playing for the country is my priority”
Harry Brook wrote in his social media post:
“This is a very important time for England cricket, and I want to be fully committed to the preparation of the upcoming series.”
“To do this, I need to recharge myself after the busiest round of my career.”
“I know that not everyone will understand it, but I have to do what I feel right. It is a priority for me to play for my country. “
How is Harry Brook’s IPL career?
- Brook participated in only one IPL season (2023).
- He played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he scored a brilliant century but the rest of the performance was average.
- In 2024 too, he withdrew his name for personal reasons.
Now, Delhi Capitals will have to find a new replacement in their place. At the same time, Brook will have to sit out of the IPL for the next two years.
Did Brook take the right decision?
This decision of Brooke can be beneficial for England cricket, but:
Staying continuously unable in IPL may spoil their relationship with their franchisees and BCCI.
Due to being out of IPL, he will have to suffer a major loss in T20 League cricket.
When they return after two years, their dialect and demand may be affected.
