Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): In the case of rape and illegal abortion of a nursing student from Morena, court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of BJP district vice president Dr Manu Sharma and her husband, BMO Dr Rajesh Sharma.

The special judge, Vivek Agarwal, denied their request, citing the seriousness of the charges.

The incident happened on March 23. A woman from Uttar Pradesh filed a complaint at Hazira police station in Gwalior, accusing a man and his brother-in-law of rape. She also alleged that BJP leader Dr Manu Sharma and her husband Dr Rajesh Sharma were involved in her forced abortion.

The police have also registered a case against Pushpendra’s sister, Reena, and brother, Arvind Rawat. All the accused are currently absconding.

The victim, a resident of Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, is studying nursing in Sabalgarh, Morena.

In her complaint, she said that she became friends with Pushpendra Rawat, and their friendship turned into a romantic relationship. On March 28, 2024, Pushpendra took her to a room in Char Shahar Ka Naka and sexually assaulted her multiple times while also recording videos. He later blackmailed her and continued to exploit her.

When she became pregnant, she asked him to marry her, but he stopped talking to her. Seeking help, she approached Pushpendra’s brother-in-law, Paan Singh, but instead of helping, he took her to Joura and raped her.

Later, when Pushpendra’s sister Reena and brother Arvind found out about her pregnancy, they forcibly took her to KD Hospital for an illegal abortion. The victim alleged that Manu Sharma and Rajesh Sharma performed the procedure against her will. When she resisted, they threatened her, saying they would fail her in nursing exams if she told anyone.

The police are currently searching for the accused, and further investigation is ongoing.
