Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Gwalior’s Gaushala (cow shelter) will begin hosting destination weddings on January 22.
Offering couples a chance to marry in a traditional and eco-friendly way. Lal Tipara Adarsh Gaushala has built a cultural pavilion costing ₹20 lakh, where the first wedding will take place on January 22.
Guests are also required to feed cows before meals, adding a cultural touch. The initiative aims to promote cultural values while saving on costs like electricity.
Weddings will follow Vedic rituals, and the gaushala will provide priests for the events. Families hosting weddings will be required to offer green fodder to the cows before serving food to guests.
The venue can accommodate up to 500 attendees, with an estimated cost of ₹2-3 lakh per event.
Saints managing the gaushala explained that the concept is aimed at reconnecting the younger generation with Indian traditions while promoting sustainability.
Weddings will be held during the day to reduce electricity and other expenses. They also emphasized that, historically, weddings in India were conducted during the day before Mughal rule.
This unique initiative is expected to blend cultural heritage with environmental consciousness, offering a meaningful and cost-effective wedding experience.
