Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Gwalior crime branch has arrested a fraudster accused of robbing an advocate of ₹1.99 lakh from the Bangladesh border on Monday. Two other accused have been arrested in connection to the case. The arrested criminal has been brought back to Gwalior for interrogation.

The arrest took place on Monday in Sagarpara in Murshidabad. The accused had been running from the police for the past two years. Acting on a tip-off, the crime branch team kept an eye on the accused for two days, eventually arresting him.

According to information, advocate Awadhesh Singh Bhadoriya had lodged an FIR stating that his PhonePe account was not working. While searching online for PhonePe customer care, he found a number and called it.

The person on the other end asked him to download the AnyDesk app, following which ₹1,99,999 was fraudulently transferred from his PhonePe account.

After the advocate’s complaint, a case was registered by the Crime Branch. While two suspects were apprehended earlier, one accused from West Bengal remained on the run.

Acting on instructions from the Superintendent of Police, the Cyber Crime Wing formed a team to locate the fugitive. The Crime Branch team tracked the accused to Sagarpara in Murshidabad, near the Bangladesh border.

After two days of surveillance, the team apprehended the suspect when he was spotted in the village. The accused has been brought back to Gwalior for questioning. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
