According to the Central Building Research Institute’s (CBRI) most recent report. Tower B has serious structural issues, these issues include corroded reinforcement bars, extensive cracks, and poor concrete.
As a result, Tower B will also need to be evacuated, and Paradiso—which was finished in 2011—may become the nation’s first contemporary condominium to be demolished.
Floor cave in February 2022
The structural evaluations of Paradiso’s towers started after two residents were killed on February 10, 2022, when the living rooms of apartments spread across five floors in Tower D collapsed vertically.
Days of protests ensued on the compound, during which the residents accused the developer of failing to respond promptly to their concerns about sagging balconies and other issues.
Following the cave-in, Tower D was evacuated right away. Over the following months, the other towers were added, a slow but inevitable process as tower after tower was discovered to have the same flaws.
The report’s recommendation demolition of Tower B
Significant structural deterioration, low-quality concrete, and corrosion in reinforcement bars were found to be serious safety hazards. Experts also observed damaged balconies, bulging floors, and obvious tile puffing, with numerous components displaying advanced corrosion.
According to Tower B’s CBRI report, ‘the building is beyond repair and recommended demolition is the only feasible solution.’
Developers has written to district administration
In an attempt to rebuild the condominium, developer Chintels India has now written to the district administration, requesting that it expedite the evacuation of Tower B as well as Towers A and C, where families still reside.
Chintels emphasized in its letter the pressing necessity of demolition in order to avert possible catastrophes. Additionally, the letter mentioned that the administration had previously ordered the demolition of six towers—D, E, F, G, H, and J—after deeming them unsafe under the National Disaster Management Act in April 2024.
