Bhopal/Guna (Madhya Pradesh): Illegal mining operations were curbed at four locations in Guna district on Sunday following strict action by the district administration. The operations were conducted after complaints of unauthorised mining outside approved survey areas reached the District Collector’s office.

On the orders of Collector Satendra Singh, a special team comprising revenue, mining, and police officials was formed to address the issue. Joint action was carried out at different locations across the district. Over 20 tractor-trolleys and one excavator were seized during the operation.

According to information, on Sunday, a series of complaints alleging illegal mining reached the collector’s office. In the complaint, a total of four locations were mentioned. Taking immediate cognisance of the complaint, Collector Singh formed a special team comprising officers from revenue, mining, and police departments ordering them to curb the illegal mining issue. Acting on the directive by the collector, the team raided four locations, seizing over 20 tractor-trolleys and one excavator during the raid.

In Bhamavad village, Kumbhraj tehsil, authorities seized three loaded tractors, 17 empty tractors, and one excavator involved in mining on the Parvati River. In Barkhedi village, Guna tehsil, a tractor-trolley engaged in mining on the Sindh River was confiscated. Similarly, in Dhimrayai village, one tractor-trolley involved in sand mining was seized and sent to the Aron police station. In Laharghat, three tractors and trolleys engaged in unauthorised mining were also confiscated during the crackdown.
