Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The government has suspended Guna district education officer Chandrashekhar Sisodia following allegations of misuse of authority to grant teachers their desired postings. The suspension order was issued by deputy secretary of school education, Manjusha Vikrant Rai, after an inquiry revealed serious irregularities in DEO’s conduct.

The case came to light during a public hearing on September 3, when a teacher’s complaint was brought to the attention of Guna district collector. When asked whether action has been taken on the complaint, Sisodia replied that a notice had been issued to the teacher. Dissatisfied with the response, the collector reprimanded Sisodia, accusing him of prolonging cases under the guise of issuing notices.

Following the incident, the collector ordered an inquiry, leading to a detailed examination of records at DEO’s office on September 4. The investigation revealed that DEO exploited his authority by suspending and reinstating teachers to positions of their choice, bypassing the rules. Although the DEO does not have the power to transfer teachers, he leveraged his authority to reinstate suspended teachers to preferred schools, effectively bypassing the system.

Additionally, it was found that Sisodia had attached multiple teachers to his preferred offices, despite a government ban on such attachments. The collector submitted the inquiry committee’s report to school education department, recommending strict action. In response, the department suspended Sisodia and initiated a departmental inquiry against him. During suspension, Sisodia has been posted to the office of Directorate of Public Instruction in Gwalior.
